[solved]Strange bias adjustment
« on: 23. August 2018, 13:01:49 »

Got a version 6 in for repair, the bias is backward.
When the PA bias setting is 0, I am getting 4.5 volts on the Mosfet.
When the PA bias setting is 95 or so, I am getting low voltage at the Mosfet.
Working backwards!!!
Any ideas??

I reload the bootloader, and latest build, reset to defaults, but the settings in the PA menu do not change!!! They will not reset.

Yes, I download from the Github, I have tried the F1-F3-F5 several times, no change.

Might be a stupid question but do you see the dialog for reset when you press F1-F3-F5?
If so, you also confirmed the reset with the extra buttons pressed Band- AND Band+ (you should be briefly seeing "...loading defaults in progress..." on screen), and finally shutdown with the button Power?
Is it so that NO setting changes when you run the F1-F3-F5 procedure?

Hi Danilo,
Yes, that is exactly what is happening. I also went in and manually set the defaults in the PA menu. Then I did the F1-F3-F5 reset, and they came back to what was previously stored!!! Should I make a video of this happening?

Sorry, I did not answer fully, YES I do see some of the settings change, the display goes to default, but I have only been watching the PA menu.
The issue STILL remains that the bias setting is working backwards.

Yes, a video is probably the easiest way to figure out what goes on. There must be something we overlook.

Maybe a better question is "What are the default values for the PA menu?"
I just reset another radio, and I got the same strange values in the PA menu.

I have just done a test on a mcHF (1MB flash/192KB RAM) running firmware D2.9.47, adjustment done in "SSB", MIC level set to '0' (no RF output), ampere meter in power supply line.
PA BIAS is set to '106', that results in BIAS is 500mA (== idle increases 500mA if I push PTT on mic). If I increase PA BIAS setting, BIAS increases, too. If I decrease PA BIAS setting, BIAS decreases, too.
Now I reset to defaults using 'F1-F3-F5'. That results in PA BIAS is set to '0'. If I increase PA BIAS setting, BIAS increases, too. If I decrease PA BIAS setting, BIAS decreases, too.
So I cannot reproduce your issue. If you follow my procedure: what does your mcHF show? What does "strange vaules" mean?
