On Windows, USB device not recognized

Hi,
I tried to installed bootloader with the DeFuse Tool. I installed the application and driver for windows 7. I followed the procedure: 1/ B+ button pressed and holded, 2/ +5V on pin 28 ==> screen turned on, 3/ plugged the usb cable.
Windows detecte a new USB device but this device is not recognized. Tried with another PC on Windows 10, same issue.
Any idea ?

Hi,
you had jumper P6 closed? In any case, post the VID and PID of the unknown device. This is in the device manager, properties of the unknown device, Details tab, Device instance path. 73 Danilo

Hi Danilo,
I forgotten to notify it but yes I put a jumper on P6. The VID and PID are those of the Generic USB Hub on which the UI Board is connected to. The mention "Unknown device" is specified on the Supply tab of this Generic USB Hub. I continued to check and test.

Bon jour Stephane ! Usually there is no need for a driver cause the installer from the STM32 site http://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-stm32080.html ("Get software" button at the far right bottom of the site) Hast it all included. If your USB connector is soldered and connected properly, clock cystal is installed Windows should send the characteristic USB chime and show "STM device in DFU mode" in the USB taskbar if jumper 6 is bridged and power is applied while the Band+ button is pressed.

Hi Stephane,
the scenario above happens if the device side of the USB identifies itself against the hub using some resistors/voltages on the data lines but the further communication with the device does not work according to plan from the host side (e.g. there is no communication). Or the communication stops in the initial phase before getting the device descriptor (which is more or less the second thing happening, first is the USB device gets an address assigned from the host). So communication is lost very early in the process or was never done.
tells us a little more about the boards history: You soldered it by yourself? The MCU is "fresh", never been used before? You checked the voltage at the MCU levels? Did you check for short circuit of the USB lines (with each other and with USB GND and USB VCC)? Anything else of interest we did not ask for?

Hi all,
This is a fresh MCU soldered by myself. I check and recheck pin by pin the MCU and I see no short circuit. I check also the MCU voltage, +3V is ok. USB line seems ok. I test also with multiple USB cable, in the past I had troubles with some. For the moment, problem still occurs.
Regards.

To start correctly, the MCU need TXCO (component ASTX-H11 16MHz). Could somebody confirme the right position of this component on the PCB ?

SOLVED !!!
Bad solder on pin 2 (GND) of the TXCO. Now well recognized in DFU mode. Bootloader and firmware installed.
All work fined, beautifull screen
Thank's for your help.

Yes,
AFAIR, USB DFU mode requires an oscillator connected externally, should have remembered.
