GPS on OVI40
« on: 21. September 2017, 08:23:48 »

I know is others on the to do list, but I come with a new (when is time) request:
Because mchf/ OVI40 is first of all one portable transceiver for expedition and QRP,
and STM32F76x is quite strong CPU and have the I/O enough, how about to add GPS
module one board, this can be very helpful, for example when we are in portable and
need to know the QRA locator, also for time sync so need it  for JTDX..
It is some  NMEA converters for Maidenhead locator for Arduino; can be this adapted?

    GPS Library:

    QRA converter example:

L.E. Bluetooth for headset can be also a great ad-don

Hi Alex,

GPS over USB is already on 2do list... For OVI40 maybe as external module so that USB can be used for other devices.

BUT:
OVI40 is **NOT** QRP!! It is planned with 50...75W output...

EDIT:
Implementing a bluetooth stack may be possible for OVI40. But is much complicated and it will eat horse- and man-power so I am not sure someone will do this.

Visit https://goo.gl/V9fxhr and buy that $0 programmable mini, add a $9 active antenna, download the Arduino programming setup and add it to the radio on the 3.3v uart.
You get a USB to 3.3v ttl adapter in the $0 cost deal.
