When I read the code trying to understand what has been changed I keep seeing functions FreeDV functions. Is this the same thing as what I am reading on the internet about Digital Voice on SSB?
I understand FreeDV can be heard through high noise levels. What is I am reading is that a FreeDV encoder on a PC can be feed into the Mic input and transmit on HF SSB. What I am wondering is will there a FreeDV encoder decoder in the future firmware?

There *is* a FreeDV decoder and encoder in actual firmware since ~1/2 a year. You can word in FreeDV without need of an PC and external program.
BUT:
It must be removed on devices containing only a 512KB MCU - not enough space left on device ::)
