Title: The case

Hi, here I would like to present the mechanical part of the design - the case. Case was designed to hold in place all internal circuits after opening the cover or take off the front panel. The inner part of the case (the chassis) consists of several parts cut from 1.5mm aluminium sheet and bend in the specific places to make it rigid and easy to assemble. The two most internal parts holds the two 100x100mm Fischer heatsinks which during the tests was suitable to dissipate the power of PA. At the rear I placed 60x60x10mm fan. It is essential to take out the heat dissipated in heatsink (about 50W when transmitting with full power). There are some 3D printed elements to match the size of the fan to the heatsinks. Two heatsinks are for two PAs, the upper for HF and the one from down side is for VHF. At the rear, near the fan you can find power socket, 20mm fuse socket, three RF connectors with 18x18mm hole distance (for UC1 or N) and some other holes for Key, PTT and auxiliary SMA connector (future expansion). From the front, I used 8x8mm button caps (Aliexpress) with some distance correctors - 3d printed. Front panel is designed for 3.5" lcd but can be easily exchanged to 4" if there will be demand (of course need new pcb layout for 4" lcd). Both front panel and the cover will be made from 0.8mm zinc-steel sheet, coated with powder paint. All the case is manufactured using cnc machines, no problem to order any quantity. So far I made only the internal chasis to check the idea and rigidity. |
